Asian Medical Students’ Association
International Oral Presentation Competition
Eligibility
1. The competition is open to all members of Asian Medical Students’
Association.
2. Each country may submit for maximum 1 presentation.
3. Participant must attend the 25th Asian Medical Students’ Conference
in Thailand (July 25th – Aug 1st 2004).
4. The content of the oral presentation must not have been previously
published and entered in any other competition.
5. The entry fee for each poster is US$ 5. The fee must be added
and paid together with the country’s conference fee for the AMSC.
Entry Requirements
and Deadline
1. To enter the competition, participant must present an original
report, essay, or expository article on a technical or scientific
subject about the topic in English.
2. The abstract (not exceed 250 words) of the oral presentation should
be submitted before June 6th 2004.
The full paper is not required.
Topics
The topic of the competition is similar with the topic of 25th AMSC
which is “ Oriental Medicine”.
Participants may choose any subtopic as long as it is related with
the topic.
Submission procedure
1. Each country (RC/whoever in charge) may submit the abstract of
the oral presentation via e-mail to both
addresses:

In the e-mail please also write
a. Name of the country
b. Names of participants
c. Name of RC/whoever in charge and e-mail address (as a contact person)
d. Whether the participants wish to join the poster or oral presentation
2. Individual submission will not be considered
3. At least 1 week after the committee received the e-mail, there
will be an announcement e-mail sent to the contact person to inform
that the papers have been received well in both addresses.
Presentation
Set-up
The participants are responsible for handling the presentation material
to the oral presentation committee at the
registration site, Ambassador hotel on July 25th 2004.
Presentation
Duration
The Presentation duration is 10 minutes plus 5 minutes for "questions
and answers" immediately thereafter.
Judging Procedures
The competition will be presented during the provided session after
the opening ceremony. The winner and runner-up of the oral competition
will be judged on the judging criteria.

1. Clarity of work and Interpretation (40
scores)
1.1 Clarity of key points, problems and solution (10 scores)
1.2 Appropriateness of methodology (15 scores)
1.3 Interpretation and conclusion (15 scores)
2. Comprehensiveness (10 scores)
3. Field Knowledge and Validity (15 scores)
3.1 Knowledge of Oriental Medicine (5 scores)
3.2 Scientifically Reasonable and Credible Data (10 scores)
4. Application to the Future Work (10 scores)
5. Presentation (25 scores)
5.1 Organization of Presented Material and Punctuality (10 scores)
5.2 Creativity and ability of the presenter to articulate the presentation
(5 scores)
5.3 Answering Questions (10 scores)
Notification
and awards
The Asian Medical Students’ Association Thailand as the committee
of this oral competition provides trophy and certificate for the best,
runner up and popular vote for this competition.
The notification of winners and award giving will be held in Thailand
as a part of activity in the 25th Asian Medical Students’ Conference.

an original non-fiction report, essay, or expository article on a
technical or scientific subject about the topic in English.
2. The abstract of the poster (not exceed 250 words) should be submitted
before June 6th 2004. The full paper

The topic of the competition is similar with the topic of 25th AMSC,
which is “ Oriental Medicine”.

References
Participant must acknowledge and reference all sources cited in a
poster. References should follow the Vancouver Style. Internet URLs
are also acceptable references, as long as they are verifiable and
do not constitute the only source material.

Note:
For judging objectivity purpose, participant may not write any identities
including name, university and country in the poster.

The competition comprises 2 rounds. In the first round, 5 posters
will be selected, based on
- Clarity of work and interpretation (40 scores)
- Comprehensiveness (10 scores)
- Field Knowledge and Validity (15 scores)
- Application to the Future Work (10 scores)
The 5 selected posters will be presented during the provided session
after the opening ceremony. The winner and runner-up of the poster
competition will be judged on presentation (25 scores) and the above
criteria (75 scores)
